What was it like to live in Canada in the 1700s?
In the 1700 many people where immigrating to Canada in search of a better life. When they came, they expected to have colonies set up and a healthy economy, but all there was where wilderness and the occasional shack. None of the people that came where prepared and came with a few cans of food and, if they were lucky, some blankets. Almost all of the settlers died of cold in the first year of being there because of the harsh winters. The ones who did survive had severe frost bite and barely survived the winter.
For the survivors, they had a hard task ahead of them. They had to clear out a space to put a house in and cut down enough trees to build a house. And that was the easy part. They also had to hunt for food, have enough of it to last the rest of the winter, and have an effective way to store it.
If they survived the next winter, they would expand their house and find more sources of food and depending on how good their communication skills are, make friends with the natives living there.

This would usually go on until they had a large family many houses and allies.
